Course Content

At AS Level, this specification will focus on the development and performance of own choreography and performing within a duo/trio. Candidates will receive training on technique and the health and safety of the dancer. They will begin to develop critical skills for the analysis of choreography and performance within their own work and in professional repertoire.

Entry Requirements (all A2 subjects carry a minimum requirement of a D-grade AS level)

The school offer for entry is 5 GCSEs at B Grade and above with English Language or Literature and Mathematics at A* - C grade.

Previous dance experience either in the form of GCSE Dance at a grade C or above or an expressive Arts GCSE at a grade C or above, or significant dance training and performance experience over at least 2 years. (evidence must be provided).



Entry Suggestions

See above for grade requirements. Students wishing to undertake this qualification must be independent workers who are prepared to work outside the regular school hours to attend performances, rehearsals and events. All students must be fit and healthy and have high standards of attendance and punctuality.




If you are made an offer and meet the required grade, you will be expected to complete the following before your first lesson in September:


See and write a review of at least one professional dance work.
Make an effort to attend either a series of classes, one off workshop or a dance summer school.
Take regular exercise to ensure health and fitness prior to starting the course.
