Key Stage 5
Psychology aims to teach students a range of psychological theories and applications relating to various aspects of mind and behaviour.
Students learn how to analyse and evaluate theories and applications in a number of areas of psychology including:
-Sleep and dreaming
-Child development
-Memory
-Obedience
-Mental disorders
Students also learn about the nature of psychological research, what constitutes an appropriate, ethical investigation and how to handle research data and statistical analysis. During lessons students are given the opportunity to carry out experiments and conduct their own research into human behaviour.
The Psychology course involves two exams at AS and two exams and A2. Psychology opens doors into many career areas, including clinical, educational, organizational and industrial settings. It is a fascinating subject for anyone who questions and wonders why we behave, think and feel as we do.
